2022 IWSA Scholarship Recipients
Aubri Lalinde
Aubri will be graduating from Dillard McCollum High School in San Antonio TX. She has been a part of Trinity Upward Bound for the last two years and was awarded the Trinity University Upward Bound Leadership Award in July of 2021. She has maintained a high GPA and is ranked in the top 25% of her graduating class. She has also been able to volunteer with local campus organizations at McCollum High School all while caring for her 1 yr old son, Andre!
Aubri will attend Palo Alto College next year and plans to transfer to Texas A&M-San Antonio where she will pursue a Business degree and work in human resource management.
Jared Jones
Jared will be graduating from McMullen County High School in Tilden TX. He enjoys playing tennis and basketball, fishing and spending time with his friends and family.
Jared has taken 37 hours of dual credit college courses and along with his busy academic schedule, Jared is very involved in FFA Poultry Judging. He has placed 3rd & 5th place. He has also won Grand Champion and Showmanship with his pics and goats.
Jared will attend Texas A&M Corpus Christi for his freshman year then transfer to Texas A&M University-College Station to finish his degree in Business Management and Law.
Kayla Lee
Kayla is a senior at NSITE High School in San Antonio TX. She has always been fascinated by business and will now be specializing in entrepreneurship and finance. Kayla has been very active in Business Professionals of America competitions and went to Nationals for the Virtual Enterprise International (VEI) competition.
Kayla will attend the University of North Texas-Denton where she plans to pursue a Business Administration degree.
Emily Abbott
Emily will be graduating from Bandera High School in Bandera TX where she has volunteered many hours to the Key Club, as an athletic trainer for soccer and basketball players, with the Boys & Girls Club and as a Soil and Water Conservation District Volunteer. Emily has also played sports and held a job for the last couple of years all this while maintaining a high GPA.
Emily will attend McMurry University in Abilene where she plans to pursue a Business degree.
Kevin Cai
Kevin will be graduating valedictorian of Reagan High School in San Antonio TX with a record high GPA of 119.9. In addition to his academic success, he placed 5th at the Winter Junior National Swimming Championships, is a two-time state finalist, and is the reigning district and regional champion. He has taken his passion for swimming to the next level by offering water safety lessons to children in his area and serving on the National USA Swimming Board where he advocates for making the sport more accessible for those who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Kevin also possess a strong affinity for community service. He is the Vice-President of the National Honor Society and has spearheaded events including robotics workshops for neurodiverse kids, providing meals for the homeless, and sewing masks for frontline workers.
Kevin will attend Duke University where he plans to pursue a Business & Finance degree.
