Kavon Mouton

Kavon Mouton is a high-performing student from Seguin, Texas, who is ranked 6th among 510 students with a 100.666 GPA. He is dual-enrolled at St. Philip’s College while completing his senior year at Seguin High School, where he is taking a demanding course schedule of AP and dual credit courses.

Kavon holds numerous leadership roles, including Student Body President, Texas Association of Student Councils District 18 President, and Superintendent’s Student
Advisory Team Co-Chair. He participates in mock trial, National Honor Society, UIL, and Business Professionals of America, where he was recognized at the state level. He has been an H-E-B Personal Shopper and a tutor for Seguin ISD.
His honors include the Spirit of H-E-B Award, a first-place marketing win at UT’s McCombs Future Executive Academy, and various academic honors. He is also captain of the varsity tennis team and a founder of the Baking Club.

When he has time, Kavon enjoys playing pickleball with friends and going for runs around his neighborhood, balancing his scholarly aspirations with an active, social lifestyle.

Lilian Hernandez Peregrino

Lilian is a first-generation Mexican-American from El Paso, Texas, pursuing a BBA in Entrepreneurship
& Innovation and International Business at St. Mary’s University, with a concentration in Trade and Operations. She had the honor of receiving the Outstanding Student in Entrepreneurship and Innovation award and currently serve as a President’s Ambassador and President of the International Business Association. Lilian has also
presented research at national conferences, including the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship, the California Entrepreneurship Educators Conference, and the Texas Consortium of Hispanic Serving Institutions.

As a McNair Scholar and award-winning undergraduate researcher, Lilian completed internships with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, SEW BROMO, and the Meadows Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. This summer, she’s further developing my skills through a San Antonio-based research program and an internship at Geekdom, an entrepreneurial hub focused on innovation and startup development.

A commitment to inclusive economic growth and sustainability drives Lilian’s journey. She plans to pursue a Ph.D. in management and launch a socially driven business, serving as a role model for fellow first-generation women who seek to become global leaders.

Aleena Shaji

Aleena Shaji is a graduating senior at Sandra Day O’Connor High School, where she has been involved in community service, STEM initiatives, and leadership. She is the founder of Eldeletters, a program that connects students and senior citizens through handwritten letters, and has also led two symposiums dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer and other health topics. This fall, she will attend the University of Texas at San Antonio to major in Statistics and Data Science, with the goal of working at the intersection of healthcare and data analytics. She hopes to develop systems that improve patient care and reduce healthcare barriers in underserved communities.

Riley Gibson

Riley is a full-time undergraduate student at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX, pursuing a B.B.A. in finance and risk management. As a first-generation college student, Riley is deeply involved in the insurance industry through leadership roles in Gamma Iota Sigma, participation in the Contreras Leaders in Risk (CLiR) program, and various internship experiences. She’s served as a Recruitment and Member Engagement Officer and Social Media Chair, and currently work as a Resident Assistant on campus.

In Summer 2024, Riley interned with Hull & Co. through the WSIA Diversity Foundation and was selected as a Top 7 Intern, attending the WSIA Annual Marketplace Conference. For Summer 2025, she will be interning with Risksmith and Hull & Co. via WSIA’s Track 1 program. Riley has also attended multiple industry conferences to expand her knowledge and  connections in insurance.

Lexy Lundegreen

Lexy is a graduating senior from New Braunfels High School. She participated in 3 sports (basketball volleyball and track and field) and was the girls varsity basketball speaking captain and received Academic All District for basketball and track and field. During her senior year she also received Academic All
State with an overall GPA of 3.8.  Lexy will be attending the University of Oklahoma this fall and plans on majoring in Business and Marketing with plans of studying abroad in Spain her junior year.

John Delgado

John Delgado was born in Okinawa, Japan, and currently resides in Pleasanton, Texas. He is a dual-enrollment student graduating third in his class from Jourdanton High School with 27 College Hours from Palo Alto College.

Throughout his high school career, John has participated in Band, Cross Country, Tennis, Business Professionals of America, Spanish Club, Yearbook, UIL Academics, and National Honors Society. He is a recipient of numerous awards, with his most prestigious ones being the John Philip Sousa Award, Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, Palo Alto College Honors, and the “Outstanding Percussionist” award from the Summer Band Institute of the University of Texas at San Antonio. While John balances school, extracurriculars, and volunteering, he also holds a job at his local McDonald’s as a Crew Trainer.

John will be attending Palo Alto College as a transient student in the summer before starting his courses at the Alvarez College of Business at the University of Texas at San Antonio in the fall, where he will graduate in 2028 with his Bachelors in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in cybersecurity.

Katie Cerda

Katie Cerda is a junior at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, majoring in Finance & Risk Management with a minor in Computer Science. During the school year, she interns with Whataburger as their Risk Management Intern and will join Amwins this summer as an SRU Underwriting Intern. She currently serves as Co-President of the Gamma Iota Sigma–Beta Xi Chapter and is a National Student Advisory Council member for Gamma Iota Sigma.

Katie was recently honored as a 2025 Spencer Scholar, an Anita Benedetti Student Involvement Program recipient, and the inaugural recipient of the Millie Workman Award for Excellence in Risk Management at the GIS Annual Conference. She has also been selected for the In2Risk Studen Program and has presented at various insurance industry conferences.

Outside of academics, Katie enjoys mentoring fellow students, exploring the real-world applications of risk analytics, and staying active in industry events. She is deeply grateful for the opportunities and support made possible through the scholarship she received.
